Fasting time

In June 2015, when we started the GTin5 program, I’d decided to cut back my work week from 4 days a week to 3.  I changed my schedule in order to allow more time for myself, to not only focus on the program but to tighten up the schedule so I wouldn’t be at work more then I already was.  People would need to adjust to my schedule more.  I’m SO glad that I did!  I needed all the rest I could get at that point in time.  By taking an extra day off midweek, it helped me to re-cooperate from my long workday on Tuesdays.  And, by cutting back to 3 days a week, I was still able to get the same amount of work done, but just make 3 longer days instead of working an extra day.   It was a win-win.

I’ve talked a lot about the Pathogen Purge.  It was intense!  While on the purging portion of the program, Mom and I had to do a four day fast.  The fast was the first fast I’d done in my life!  I didn’t know what to expect!  Mom had fasted before, so she’d told me a little about how fasting worked.  This fast consisted of drinking 1 cup of bone broth (ours was homemade) for our 3 meals of the 4 days.

Into the bone broth we’d add one scoop of Collagen powder, a teaspoon of coconut oil, and Himilayan Sea Salt to taste.  The bone broth, with all these added nutrients, was actually quite filling!  In between meals, mid morning and mid afternoon, we would have a “Green Drink.”  It consisted of juicing kale, cucumber, ginger, lemon, celery, parsley, and romaine lettuce.  Yes, it was lip smacking! 😉  The green drink was a great detoxifier!  Then, in the evening in addition to our bone broth, we could have one cup of fresh berries; raspberries, strawberries, blackberries or blueberries.

Christa(Founder of The Whole Journey Program) had advised the entire group doing the program, through our weekly webinar, not to do a lot of strenuous activities while fasting and detoxing.  It was important to be “extra good” to ourselves by listening to our bodies, hearing and becoming more in-tune with our bodies.  It was also important to get enough rest.  This was a terrific way of letting the nutrients we were drinking give the body what it needed in order to detoxify.  We were using “food as medicine” to detoxify and cleanse our bodies!

Pictured on the left, a nutrient dense smoothie filled with of a variety of superfoods.  Sprinkled on top of it is non-grain granola.  In the middle, Turmeric Ginger Tea(great tea to reduce inflammation in the body).  And right, homemade bone broth.  As Dr. R had once told me, “Bone broth is a miracle worker!”

Mom and I started the 4 day fast on a Wednesday.  I worked Thursday and Friday that week but wasn’t overly busy so it wasn’t overly-strenuous on me.  Working also helped keep my mind distracted from hunger the few times it hit me.  I focused on my clients and their need for healing.

I was tired while I fasted.  My body just wanted to sleep.  On Friday night though, I was beginning to feel better physically.  My digestion wasn’t hurting or effecting me “negatively.”  I felt lighter physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually.  It was a good feeling!  By Saturday I was truly starting to feel what it felt like to “feel WELL!”  I could truly say the words, “I feel really WELL!” compared to the last 2+ years.

The 4 day fast was a BIG help for me.  My digestive system got a break from having to work so hard.  I was setting up my body for healing to take place.  This fast was essential to help aid in my bodies ability to detoxify itself.  My body was detoxifying more than I could fully understood at that time.

Fasting is something that needs to be done respectfully, responsibly, and is best done with the guidance of a health professional.  Fasting just to lose weight, or to diminish a person’s appetite, are NOT good reasons to fast.  I’m not going to go further into this.  I’m just saying that if a person wants to do a fast for health benefits, PLEASE be careful about how you do it because results can vary greatly!

Anyways, the fast went well for Mom and I.  I felt well and I remember thinking,  I feel amazing, healthy, and well!

JE July 13th, 2015

I actually got more than just 6-7.5 hours of sleep last night!  It’s been WEEKS since I’ve gotten that much!  Yesterday was day # 3 of the fast.  I know that my body is trying to heal, and it is very exhausted and tired.  I’ll keep on keeping on, putting one foot in front of the other.

Unfortunately, like I’ve said already, I didn’t want to keep on the PP another week, so Mom and I were to soon go to the next step of the program, but we wanted to end this portion of the program by doing Colonics.  It was time to face yet another UNKNOWN!
